Ghostbusters 3 Is Green Lit For 2013, Bill Murray Not Involved

2013 will see the long-awaited Ghostbusters 3 go into production...without one likely actor that we all would love to see in the film, Bill Murray.
Deadline recently revealed that director Ivan Reitman plans to shoot the sequel next summer. Ghostbusters 3 has had it’s fair share of development stalls in the last decade because of supposed failed viable scripts by Aykroyd and Ramis. This past July though, Aykroyd revealed that the script has been handed over to a new writing team.
Man, I’m not sure I’m on board with another Ghostbusters film without Bill Murray? I mean, he was the spark of the first two so Ghostbusters without Murray might just be a whole lot of nothing? Guess we’ll wait and see.
Aykroyd has also acknowledged that Murray is unlikely to return.
“It’s sad but we’re passing it on to a new generation. Ghostbusters 3 can be a successful movie without Bill. My preference would be to have him involved but at this point he doesn’t seem to be coming and we have to move on. It’s time to make the third one.”
Well, Dan, you can make it for the new generation but I think the old fans are going to be severely disappointed. But again, we’ll just have to wait and see.
