Rock Hall To Let Fans Vote On Who Should Be Inducted

The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Nominees have been announced and there are some names that are finally getting some kind of recognition.

This year’s big nominees include Public Enemy, the late Donna Summer, Rush, Deep Purple.

But I believe that the best part of the whole enchilada this year is…wait for it…music fans will finally have their chance to vote. Again, finally.

The fans will be given until December 5th to vote and cast their ballots for the top five artists. The votes will then be combined with the Hall’s committee of music experts and a decision will be made. The winners from the tally of votes will then be inducted into the Hall of Fame on April 18th, 2013 in Los Angeles.

This is a big change as in the past, the committee has been ragged on, scoffed at and ridiculed for inducting artists and bands that while deserving, could’ve waited in line. Which line you ask? The line that Deep Purple, Rush, KISS, Journey, Duran Duran, The Smiths, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Stevie Ray Vaughn, New Order, The Cure, Chicago, Cat Stevens, Depeche Mode and a whole slew of others.

Other hopefuls included in the list this year: N.W.A., Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Heart, Randy Newman, Albert King, The Marvelettes, The Meters, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Procol Harum, Chic and this one’s a big one, Kraftwerk.

To be eligible overall, a band must have had released a single or album 25 years before the year of nomination.

So if you’re a fan of any of the nominees, make sure to vote on these websites rockhall.com, hbo.com, CNN.com and rollingstone.com.

Rush, Deep Purple, you’ve got mine.
