UFC Badass Nick Diaz Out For a Year After Pot Bust

UFC fighter Nick Diaz has been banned from fighting until next February for testing positive for marijuana after his last fight in Las Vegas.

Nick is also being slapped with a $79,500 fine for the bust. It’s 30 percent off Nick’s $265,000 purse and bonus from said fight where he lost to Carlos Condit. The one-year suspension is dated from that fight.

Ross Goodman, Diaz’s lawyer, and Nick Diaz failed to convince commissioners that Diaz’s medical marijuana prescription is for treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.  

This is Diaz’s second offense for marijuana usage. Back in 2007, Diaz lost his license to fight for six months and was fined $3,000 by the commission for failing the drug test after his fight. 

I feel bad for Nick. Now that he’s at his prime and is fighting at the top of his game, this happens. But the hammer has been thrown down and I guess he’ll now have a lot of time to ponder and think about what happened…or he can just lay out, chill, smoke doobies, enjoy the rest of his purse and then kick ass again in February. Yeah, that last sentiment most likely fits him better.
